Instructions for Glastar's Glass Stripper and Circle Cutter

The Glastar Stripper and Circle Cutter is made of lightweight, extra-strong, glass-filled acetal. It is not likely to break a piece of glass if it is dropped on it. Use it to take the tedium out of cutting glass!

The Stripper and Circle Cutter is a combination tool composed of three pieces:

1. 12" (30.48 cm) T-bar (shown with the Stripper base)

There are two scales on the T-bar. One reads the width of the strip to be scored with the stripper base. This scale begins with 1-2-3-4. The other scale reads the diameter of the circle to be scored with the circle cutter base. This scale begins with a 4-6-8.

The turret on the end of the T-bar holds six cutting wheels. These cutting wheels are of outstanding quality, lasting many, many hours. When one becomes dull, merely rotate the turret to the next cutting position. Be sure the cutting wheel is lubricated before you use it. You can use a combination of kerosene and lubricating oil.

2. Stripper Base

The Stripper is used to cut strips from 1/2" (1.27 cm) up to 12" (30.48 cm) in width, saving you hours of tedious cutting. Most important, all of your pieces will be exactly the same size.

3. Circle Cutter Base

The Circle Cutter has a 3-point base so that it holds its position, even on rough textured art glass. It can score circles from 3" (7.62 cm) to 24" (61 cm) in diameter.

How to cut Borders, Rectangles, Squares, Diamonds, and Trapezoids

  1. Simply nail a standard 1" (2.54 cm) x 2" (5.08 cm) board to your worktable.
  2. Place the edge of the glass against the board.
  3. Slide the Stripper base on to the T-bar. Using the scale that begins with 1-2-3-4, set the size strip you want to cut. Tighten the thumb screw so the base does not move.
  4. The Stripper base rides on the edge of the 1" (2.54 cm) x 2" (5.08 cm) board as you apply continuous pressure while sliding the cutting wheel over the glass.

How to Cut Circles

  1. Put glass to be cut on your worktable.
  2. Slide the Circle Cutter base on the T-bar. Using the scale that begins with 4-6-8, set the size circle you want to cut. Tighten the thumb screw so that the base does not move.
  3. Place the Circle Cutter base on the glass you want to cut. The cutting wheel scores the circumference of the circle.
  4. Hold the base in place with your thumb on the pressure button in the center of the Circle Cutter base. At the same time, apply continuous pressure while rotating the T-Bar cutting wheel over the glass.
